Biography

Dr. Fort rejoined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in September 1990, after completing three (3) years of residency in a doctoral program at the University of Washington. In his role as a Senior Research Engineer, Dr. Fort is responsible for computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analyses in fluid flow systems including waste tanks, ceramic melters and nuclear reactors. Dr. Fort also managed the CFD group, and later the combined experimental and computational fluids groups until 1998. Dr. Fort is active in computational and experimental fluids research projects and in efforts to promote the development of new computational tools for multiphase fluid flow. His project work has included experimental fluid dynamics and computer modeling. Experimental activities involve applications of laser doppler velocimetry in model reactor rod bundles and flow visualization studies over models of wind turbine site topography.
